This concept has been developed as an inexpensive alternative to the Uniden PRS radio
setup . It is a single channel crystal controlled transceiver on the NZ RFS29 40 MHz
allocation ( Aust 55 Mhz) . I have two of these units available ,unfortunately my supplier is not
importing any more these will be the last ones available, pity ,as
they work quite well. we have kept the description in here for interest
in case anyone else would like to use their own radios, I have the circuit
diagram for them too!
Production
of Uniden '040 stopped ??? now they have stopped the 044!! (now
they have a 044 with 2.5mm socket )
I
heard through the grapevine that Uniden has discontinued the production of the
040/042 radios ! the 044 will replace the 042 and the 041(NO EXT
PTT FACILITY THOUGH) replaces the 040! pity as the 040 is a good radio cheap , easy to drive ,
solid , reliable and runs on AA batteries , Bugger! another bloody
radio
plug change required!! the only one to get is the more
expensive (but more powerful 044!) I think still worth paying the extra
for though! However we can fit just about any radio you present us
with.
But don't worry , we do have a headset that fits the Uniden 041!!! if you still wish to use one.
Use
of the MP3/radar detector cable with this unit drops one speaker off the radio
so the music can stay in stereo ( both speakers)

There are large numbers of models of hand-helds out there! and thank
god there is only a very limited way of wiring the mic/ headsets and plug
configurations, so we think we can cater for just about all models . At the
moment the one we do have a minor problem with is the Kenwood handheld plug but
please contact us about this as there is always a way around it ! (
you have to make up an adapter cable) We have only a few requests for the
use of the little Kenwood radio in the bike to bike situation however the number
of requests doesn't warrant the expense of having a range or headsets made
specifically ...sorry maybe later?
