Rear View Video assembly

These consist of a small weatherproof colour camera which is connected via a long cable, carrying power and video signal to a colour video display unit .

The camera can be placed anywhere that the operator wishes to view, i.e. at the rear of large trucks where visibility is extremely limited, enabling one to observe what is occurring behind the vehicle. This is extremely useful where the driver is reversing down   a long narrow alley way.  Although  drivers use left and right side rear view mirrors, these provide no view of what is directly behind the vehicle. there is no way of assessing what has happened between arriving and maneuvering into reverse, short of dismounting and checking on foot. Even then a small vehicle ,obstacle ,child or pedestrian may turn up in the path unseen whilst the large vehicle is backing.

The video viewer will be useful for heavy equipment operating in the forestry industry. There are many situations where tree felling equipment and log moving machines have notorious and potentially lethal blind spots ,where it is possible for ground staff to be positioned in the line of movement of a log load and not be seen by the operator of the machine. The operator cannot hear the soon to be injured party yelling at the top of his voice over the roar of the motor as he also has ear protectors on ....doesn't warrant contemplating does it . If the operator had a camera mounted to "see" in the blind spot ,he may have a better opportunity to see any dangerous situations arising.

The Video camera viewer Kit:

Top Left: The small thin 30mm thick, 6" colour liquid crystal TFT video monitor. Top right:The voltage control box, anything from 10 to 26 volts DC!! Bottom left:The 20m camera connection cable. Bottom right :   The weatherproof colour camera with infra red illumination LED's.

The kit is very easy to install ,only two wires are connected to the DC power source at the key switch of the vehicle. The camera is mounted at the required spot and protected with a good solid steel cover to peek out from . The camera can be mounted right way up or upside down as the monitor is able to invert the image and produce a "rear mirror view" if required, by pushing a button .         The cables are very much "plug and play" and will only connect one way. installation is a easy.

The camera is a 1/3 inch colour CCD unit with an effective pixel size of 500(H) by 582(V) producing a resolution of 420 TV  lines. It has a sensitivity of 3 lux at F 2.0. There are 10 Infra Red Light emitting diodes around the periphery of the camera that automatically switch on if the ambient light level falls too low to enable  a useful colour picture. The invisible infra red illumination will enable a good picture up to about 7 meters away from the camera. The system then displays a black and white picture on the colour monitor.
